News has been received by relatives here of the death on Dec. 5 of Mrs. Mary Burkey Schreiber, 78, of 1117 North Formosa Avenue, Hollywood, Calif. Mrs. Schreiber, wife of William Schreiber, taught in the St. Joseph public schools for many years. She also had taught at the Bridgeman and Gard schools. Born in St. Joseph, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Josephine Burkey and spent her early life in and around St. Joseph. She taught in the St. Joseph schools before she was married to Mr. Schreiber. Soon after their marriage they moved to California, which has been their home since. Mrs. Schreiber is survived by her husband, a son, Edwin C. Schreiber, of Hollywood, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Josephine) Billon, of Creston, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Alden and Mrs. Kathryn Christensen, both of Benton Harbor, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers preceded her in death. Burial took place this morning at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hollywood.
