Delt note

PRICE - Melrose Atwood, 83, passed away Sept. 26, 2003 at home with his family.
Melrose was born on Oct. 22, 1919 in Elmo to William J. Atwood and Laura Dorcas Cramer. He married Erma Allred Feb. 27, 1948 (December 23, 1938) and it was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple April 7 1949. She preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1988.
Together, they had two sons and two daughters, Clay Atwood (Georginna), Price; Lynn Jensen (Ron), St. George; Scott Atwood (Marcia), Fruita, Colo.; and Paula Christensen, Salina.
Melrose was a quiet man, but his children always knew that he loved them. Melrose's passion was his farm. He enjoyed working the fields and taking care of the animals. He also loved horseback riding.
Melrose was always involved in the coal industry, whether it be working in the mines or hauling coal. He and his brother, Clemont, started a coal hauling business. He later retired from the Plateau mine.
He was active in the LDS Church.
He later married Louise Johansen, who was a very loving companion and caregiver. She brought her seven children to the fold. Her children, who also loved and cared for Melrose, include Marcia Vincent (David), Payson; Landra Adams, Price; Donna Kerr (Rick), Kaysville; Christine Johansen, Bremerton, Wash.; Michael Johansen (Lecia), Ninety-six, S.C.; Charles Johansen, deceased; and Robert Johansen, deceased. He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with 30 direct descendents. Melrose was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Erma; brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Harve Christensen.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1 p.m., at the Wellington 1st LDS Ward Church, with a viewing one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Wellington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
